Using our color palette

We design sites using two primary background colors—crimson and light gray—and one secondary background color, chosen from the palette below.

Because crimson is Indiana University's main brand color, it should always be used in greater frequency than any secondary color.

Note: These colors are hex values only, adjusted specifically for use in the digital space.

Primary Colors

On the web, we substitute gray for the cream in our primary colors (cream and crimson). This is because cream doesn’t reproduce well in online environments.

Secondary Colors

The secondary color palette is designed to provide creative flexibility. These colors are complimentary to the primary color and were chosen so that they do not compete with crimson.

Each of the eight secondary brand colors have corresponding tints and shades to provide a range of color options.
